Team No Sleep singer, Sheebah Karungi, one of Uganda's most successful female musicians, has given her take on prostitution, which is on the rise among women in Uganda today. Speaking on a local television show recently, the singer defended women, arguing that some of them are simply mistaken for prostitutes. She also blamed men for promoting the vice. "The problem with Ugandan men is that marry decent girls to impress their families and yet at home, what they really want is a crazy girl and hence they end up hiring prostitutes," she said. The "Ndiwanjawulo" hit maker also noted that it is a man's responsibility to provide for his woman so that she doesn't become a prostitute in order to meet her personal needs.
