The Facebook-owned messaging behemoth already offers a web version of its service, but this is the first time it's had a native app designed specifically for Macs and Windows PCs. "Like WhatsApp Web, our desktop app is simply an extension of your phone: the app mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device," the company said on its blog. The desktop app supports notifications and keyboard shortcuts. You can download WhatsApp's desktop app directly from its website on Mac and Windows. WhatsApp has over 1 billion monthly active users, which makes its reach only second to Facebook itself.
