MarkMark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan welcome their first baby girl 'Max'

Zuckerberg met fellow student Priscilla Chan at a fraternity party during his sophomore year at Harvard, they began dating in 2003.[133][134] Chan is the daughter of Chinese-Vietnamese refugees, who arrived in the U.S. after the Fall of Saigon in 1975.[135] She was born in Braintree, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, and is a 2003 graduate of Quincy High School.[136][137] In September 2010, Zuckerberg invited Chan, by then a medical student at the University of California,[138] to move into his rented Palo Alto house. Zuckerberg studied Mandarin in preparation for the couple's visit to the People's Republic of China in December 2010.[139][140] On May 19, 2012, Zuckerberg and Chan married in Zuckerberg's backyard in an event that also celebrated her graduation from medical school.[141][142][143] On July 31, 2015, Zuckerberg announced that he and Chan were expecting a baby girl.   • Mark Zuckerberg, 31, and wife Priscilla Chan, 30, announced birth of their baby girl, Max, at around 4pm EST on Tuesday 

  • Detailing their happy news in a lengthy Facebook post, they also revealed plans to give away the vast majority of their private wealth to charity 

  • Couple will donate 99% of their Facebook shares - currently valued at $45 billion - to the work of a new charity: The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative

  • Pledge was backed by a formal SEC agreement which revealed Zuckerberg will not give away more than $1 billion each year for the next three years 

  • He will also retain his majority shareholder position on all decisions relating to Facebook in 'the foreseeable future'  

  • Couple posted a touching first picture of baby Max alongside the pledge

  • Newborn is wrapped in a white and red Aden And Anais swaddle cloth with cartoon caterpillars, held by her father as her doting mom supports her

  • Zuckerberg will now take two months of paternity leave to support his wife in the early weeks of their daughter's life
